Q&A

REASON YOU RIDE:

I ride for many reasons.

Friendships – I am blessed to have awesome friends to ride with.

Health – to stay fit and strong. I’ve had 3 knee surgeries and cycling is low    impact and easier on the knees.

Sanity – Riding takes away the stresses of life and resets my outlook.

Beauty – I can ride to and through some beautiful places and gain a different perspective and appreciation that can’t be found by car.

God – We start our rides in prayer and it’s a great time for me to be in conversation/communion with my Creator.

FAVORITE SEASON TO RIDE:

I love ALL seasons for different reasons and the same route is very different depending on the time of year. I tend to favor the time from spring to fall when the days are longer and there is more time to ride.

FAVORITE TIME OF DAY TO RIDE:

Early morning is AWESOME! We have a great group that meets at 6:00 am 3-4 days a week and we ride for a couple of hours in the hills. The air is clean and fresh. The earth and animals are just waking up and it’s a great way to start the day in fellowship and to get the blood pumping.

BEST THING ABOUT RIDING:

What is not good about riding? Friends, fellowship, pushing yourself physically, nature, health, sanity, beauty. It’s all good!

WORST THING ABOUT RIDING:

Mechanicals and heat (but Spruzza is helping one of those problems).

 BIGGEST CHALLENGE:

For me it’s heat and nutrition. I sweat a LOT and I have a hard time hydrating on the bike. So for me trying to keep cool and hydrated are key to being able to go farther and faster. Thank you SPRUZZA!

BIGGEST VICTORY:

For me it’s two-fold – The friends and friendships I have and maintain through cycling- cyclists are generally really awesome people! Also, just being able to keep riding as the years progress. I’ll turn 50 this year and I am stronger today than I was 20 years ago – cycling is a sport that you can do forever.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

BIKE YOU RIDE:   SCATTANTE FIVE SIXTY

REASON YOU RIDE:

FUN AND HEALTH! I ride for several reasons, one to stay in shape so I can enjoy other sports that I’m involved in such as hunting and snow skiing. I also ride because it’s fun and a lot easier than running, even though I still run once a week.

What I enjoy most about riding is the feeling of accomplishment knowing that I rode as well or better than the last time out.

FAVORITE SEASON TO RIDE:

SPRING & FALL

I prefer to ride when it’s cooler, but since I’ve purchased Spruzza that doesn’t really matter anymore. After a couple of sprays with Spruzza, I forget about the heat and can push on feeling encouraged and invigorated.

FAVORITE TIME OF DAY TO RIDE:

MORNING, AFTERNOON, NIGHT

BIGGEST CHALLENGE:

Hills!

The area I live in has plenty of hills so I am always able to push myself.

2016 RIDING GOALS

This is a sport that I hope to continue the rest of my life as it invigorates and lifts me up every time I ride. So here’s to no accidents, no flats and keep on pushing the limits.

Q&A

REASON YOU RIDE:

I ride mountain bikes because very few experiences require you to be fully present and to have all our senses engaged and focused on the trail. At those moments nothing else is going on in your head. So when everything comes together and you rail through that perfect corner and everything blends effortlessly together, that is why I ride.

FAVORITE SEASON TO RIDE:

We are blessed her in northern California that we can ride year round. I find that each seasons brings its own special experience. With all the latest gear available we really have no problem riding year round. Spruzza has recently opened up an even wider ability to ride in hot temps which before were challenging to manage. The ability to have a cooling system on hot days is awesome; I’m all for anything that will allow more riding time.

FAVORITE TIME OF DAY TO RIDE:

Late afternoon to dusk without a doubt. There is just something about the light during that time that’s really attractive. I think is the long shadows and the amber light that creates such a great experience.

BEST THING ABOUT RIDING:

What I like best about riding are all the relationships that get created. It’s awesome to spend a few hours out with a group of people that all love the same thing. On top of that being out on the mountain is where I prefer to spend as much time as possible and it’s where I feel the most comfortable.

WORST THING ABOUT RIDING:

With all things in perspective, my worst day on the trail is way better than being stuck inside not riding. Even when I have a mechanical issue or I’m just having a bad day riding, I always get some satisfaction when I’m able to overcome a challenge while riding. Those are usually the times I learn the most and become a better rider.

 BIGGEST CHALLENGE:

Finding ways to get more time on the trial. With a life of being a father and husband as well as work duties it’s a challenge to make time to ride. However, being in the “business” so to speak allows for a few more opportunities than normal.

FAVORITE QUOTE:

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure.” – Helen Keller

2016 RIDING GOALS

To expand my riding area. Over the last few years I’ve stayed pretty local with my riding. Here in California there is a lot of trails opportunities that I have yet to experience and getting to as many of those as possible is a goal. In addition to that an international trip is in my sights as well. Possibly New Zealand or Switzerland.

 ANYTHING ELSE:

My life-long passion for the outdoors, and my love for the mountains, and a desire to share the outdoor experience is what led me to found Pure Mountain Mojo. My vision is to make the sights, sounds, and smells of the mountains—combined with the joy of moving under one’s own power—accessible to others. I’m totally grateful for the opportunity to be able share my passion.
