The Spruzza reservoir is made with medical grade HDPE material designed to contain fluids for ingestion and bodily fluid / surface contact. It also was designed to securely hold a specified load in a vertical plane under normal cycling conditions: Road Vibrations and Bumps.
We have found over the last few years that in some cases the reservoir "tabs" may wear down after repeated use.
This does not appear to be a universal issue but happens enough that we are making the following recommendations and taking some steps to mitigate this wearing down and helping our customers who have experienced this issue.
If your reservoir tabs have worn down and the reservoir "falls off" the Spruzza stem...please contact us. We will replace it at NO CHARGE...email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
To prevent excessive wear and tear on your reservoir please take the following steps.
1. As you insert and remove the reservoir from the stem please be sure the "tabs" are properly lined up with the stem slots. See figure 1 above.
2. When inserting the reservoir be sure it is at 90 degrees perpendicular to the Spruzza stem. Gently push the tabs into the stem slots and turn 90 counterclockwise. Reverse this step when taking the reservoir off [Turn 90 deg clockwise]. See Figure 2 below
3. Once the reservoir is properly inserted you can give it a "gentle" pull to be certain it is locked in.
4. When the reservoir is on the Spruzza unit be sure the brake and/or derailleur cables are NOT pushing it against it when you turn the front tire left or right. Lateral forces on the reservoir can not only wear down the tabs, if enough pressure is placed on it the reservoir could "pop out" of the stem. See Figure 3 & 4
After four years in the field we find relatively low number of excessive tab wear cases but enough that we are taking steps to enhance the reservoir durability. In the meantime if you have experienced this please contact us and we'll happily replace your reservoir.
Thanks for being a valuable Spruzza customer. Ride safe and ride cool.
